USY Convention is coming to B’nai Zion
We are still looking for a few families to host 2 or more USY'ers the weekend of March 2-4, 2012.  The amazing weekend for those in grades 9-12 will bring together Jewish teenagers from Tennessee, Georgia, North Carolina, South Carolina, and Alabama.  The teens will be at B’nai Zion for the majority of the time.  They will sleep in hosts’ homes both Friday and Saturday night.  You will be responsible to provide a dairy breakfast Saturday morning and some snacks.  We also ask that you transport the teens to and from your home several times during the weekend.  All of their free time will be spent with the convention. You do not need to have teenagers presently living in your home to be a host. If you are able to help, please contact Jason ASAP.

Rabbi Susan Tendler, Candidate for B'nai Zion rabbinic position
The BZ Rabbi Search Committee is pleased to announce that Rabbi Susan Tendler and her family (Ross Sadoff and kids, Hannah and Ella) are visiting this weekend.  Highlighted here are two of the opportunities for everyone to interact with Rabbi Tendler:
Saturday – Services begin at 9:45AM:  This is our yearly Sisterhood/Men’s Club Shabbat.  Many congregants will be leading services.  Rabbi Tendler will be reading from the Torah and giving the weekly sermon/D’var Torah.  There is a congregational lunch after services.  Following lunch, the congregation is invited to stay afterward for a 30-45 minute learning session led by Rabbi Tendler.
Sunday - 1PM: The entire congregation is invited to a reception (desserts) followed by questions/interview in the B'nai Zion social hall.  Michael Dzik (chair) will lead the conversation and will take congregational questions (in writing).  After this gathering (and the Rabbi and family have left) the congregation can stay afterwards for a conversation about this candidate.
If you have any questions, please contact Michael Dzik at 423-504-5518 or michaeldzik@gmail.com.
