Question of the Week

Oreo cookies are delicious.  Did you know they haven't always been kosher.  Here is this weeks two-part question:

1.  In what year did the Oreo become kosher?
2.  What similar cookie was used by many kosher-keeping Jews for years until the Oreo became kosher?

One ticket or each correct answer; three tickets if you get them both correct.  :)

Senator Corker to Speak at BZ
U.S. Senator Bob Corker, R-Tenn., ranking member of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee will speak at B'nai Zion on Shabbat morning, December 14.  Services will begin at 9:30 am. At 11:00 am, Senator Corker will share his perspective on current US-Iran relations and policy as well as how they impact US-Israel relations, leaving time for Q&A.
As we address American - Israel relations on this day, Eliza Lebovitz will also speak that morning about her recent weekend attending the Schusterman Advocacy Institute High School Summit hosted by American Israel Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC) in our nation's capital where she hopes to return in March for the AIPAC public policy conference.
A Kiddush luncheon will follow services.

Give your costumes new life!
The Jewish Federation of Greater Chattanooga is collecting used Halloween costumes that will go to Israel on December 18 and be donated to children in the Federation’s partnership region (Hadera) to be used as Purim costumes.  Feel free to bring your costumes to BSI this week and we will help our friends and family in Israel.
